Our office is located within one of Sheffield’s most notable heritage sites, Leahs Yard. A former 19^th century Mesters works, the complex is an emblem to the cities industrial heritage.

Initially used for manufacturing purposes, producing items such as cutlery, shears and other hand tools, the yard was a thriving complex at the time. Throughout the 19^th century, it was a home to multiple ‘little Mesters’, and impressively accommodated up to eighteen metal industry traders.

Previously known as Coalpit Lane, then Cambridge Street Horn Works, the yard eventually landed on its current name in the 1890s, when it was taken over by Henry Leah and Sons.

But as industrial practices in the city progressed, the yard was regretfully sold in the 1990s, and become an abandoned and neglected space. The dismissal of the complex caused it to be named one of the nation’s most threatening buildings on the English Heritages risk register. But this nearly derelict building was revitalized and refurbished into a magnificent rear courtyard, to pay a homage to one of Sheffield’s most important manufacturing heritage sites. Filled with independent cafes, boutiques and the simdure office.
